Married in Berdichev — “Light Comes”

Sift through the elements of the track above and you’ll find a lot more than what you’ve taken in at first. Denver’s Married in Berdichev sets itself as one of those ambiently distant projects, but it all comes back with a personal touch through Brittany Gould’s vocals — easy to get lost throughout and coarse enough to fill in its surroundings.

Sad Souls — “Windows and Churches”

Released last year, but recently re-released in Japan and mastered by Chihei Hatakeyama, Apeiron is still just as amazing as it was 5 months ago. The entire combination of an inkling guitar over ambient fields of a drawn-out shimmering synth sets this album up perfectly for a 2AM playlist, or even an early morning drive.

Sad Souls takes the place of Tom Auty’s musical endeavours recorded in Ann Arbor, Michigan. I recommend you dive into the wonders going on in Ann Arbor as soon as possible. There’s simply a lot of incredible musicians all hovering around there and I am personally excited to meet some of them during the events of TOTAL BUMMER 3D.

Ricky Eat Acid — “fuck other people”

Uncertain strums. I mean, they really don’t know and I’m not even sure, at least, not until a generative analog beat meets its counterpart, snare-led percussion in the back. On the other end, we’ve got all toy keyboards playing their part for the remainder of the track; leaving behind a trail of lingering static fuzz as each chord passes onto the next and finally all that’s left behind plays through as an alluring arrangement.

World’s End Girlfriend — “Old Winter Ferris Wheel”

Hopefully you all can enjoy this 2002 release as much as I’m loving it right now. Enchanted Landscape Escape is just about a perfect album from World’s End Girlfriend and it’s entire composition / production is exactly what I love about music. The album itself most definitely tells a story as well, so you’ll want to go out of your way for a listen of this beautiful release.

Ricky Eat Acid — “So I Will Not Fall Deep Into The Earth”

As a sort of distant measure between its outputted noise and what’s actually heard beneath it all, “So I Will Not Fall Deep Into The Earth” plays through nearly 9 minutes as an utter & desolate feeling, captured minimally through Sam’s vocals and finishing off with the displaced nature in the guitar strings’ coarsely delayed hums. It’s simply a pulse; drawn out into much more than what’s first heard.

These 9 minutes come with a specific experience and the entire ambient nature filters through this, as possibly the first cool touch within the sheets of your bed, or even a night’s walk just before the rain slowly breaks through. Adding thoughts & fictional experiences to music has always been personally emphasized and this new Ricky Eat Acid track leaves so much room for just that; it’s a lovely result at the end.

Lady Lazarus — “Kurosawa’s Dreams and Me”

Mantic came out early this past year and the minimal nature of the album favored most late nights throughout summer. One thing especially, that really took me away was the somber finish to the entire release. Even though Lady Lazarus had that feeling there from the beginning, the completely instrumental track after “What It’s Like” tied a bow around the entire thing. The closing track now comes complete with fitting visuals to extend the feeling. [Previously]

Memo — “Separate Leaves / This Is the Line”

Sorting through these light-intro’d sounds of percussion loops, soft piano keys, and vocals fit for midnight-conversations, as Memo Guerra builds an interesting effect throughout each listen. The former London-based student is now in Austin, TX and his latest track is set for some sort of future release. The music is all definitely worth an investing listen for those looking for a distantly-welcoming experience.

Maximino — “It’s Happening”

Once more, I can’t even begin to imagine this Orlando music scene without one of the most humble musicians around; Gerald Perez, as Maximino. What really takes you away with the sounds behind his solo keyboard / guitar / cello / percussion act, is more than what’s digitally heard. Its full experience isn’t made through this and you’ve really got to see how Gerald begins and finishes each & every song that’s performed live. Obviously, life isn’t as convenient so we end up having to take the next best thing. Gerald plans to release a new track every Friday and the one above is from last week. Listen!

Arrange — “Sun Showers”

Malcom Lacey has probably been pretty busy getting ready & moving out to Portland, but this Southern Florida native has had enough time to put together a brand new Arrange EP. Right now, we’ve only got one single, but whoa I’m taken back at these various instruments, melodramatically placed around Malcom’s vocals, before a breakdown that soon fades into white noise and ambient shuffles. With this and the rest / what I’ve heard as a preview, this EP is going to be one of the best 12”s you’ll be able to get in 2012. Titled; Five Years With The Sun and scheduled for a January 24th release with JUKBOXR.

Teen Mom Birthday Cake — “When You Wake Up I’ll Be Gone Little Cat”

Did you guys catch this earlier? Teen Mom Birthday Cake is another Sam Ray project, that’s got a 30 track+ cassette coming our way, at least I’m pretty sure this was the plan when the very dude himself first started playing the tracks in Mumu Player (not tt.fm). Woah, does that feel like a long time ago and woah does this ambient mood last forever when you’ve got this droned out extraterrestrial voice speaking to someone(thing?); it can’t be us. Its sounds, behind it all, really set the mood at a distinct unknown limit, where we can’t remember if we’ve been here before and you can’t help but want some visuals to go along with the mood; this project needs to be a film score.
